This episode is about cavalry, no not the charge of the Scots Greys from the image above (although that is quite possibly the best painting of a battle ever) but instead the role that the British cavalry played in World War 1. Of course, the story starts long before 1914 so we will take a trip back to the 19th century before we start working our way forward. This will be the first of a multi-part series looking at the British cavalry's contribution to the war. I think it will be a good journey for anybody who really cares about the war because the cavalry is criminally under served in major historical works on the topic
